Freedom of Religion

The disapproval from the HEP of UKM didn't bring God's people down.
They disallowed us to meet in campus for 'religious' matter, then we can meet outside.
To cut the story short, we had our PERKEB meeting, outside.

We want to meet inside campus.
Not that we got no place to meet outside, but as a registered society under the university, we have our rights to meet up with our members.

Saudara dinasihat supaya mengadakan kelas agama di luar kampus. Alasan
yang diberi adalah bahawa Universiti adalah sebuah tempat untuk pencapaian
akademik, bukan agama.

Sometime before they said universiti bukan saja tempat untuk menuntut ilmu tetapi juga perlu belajar softskill.
So where do we learn all the soft skills if we don't join club, or the club is not able to meet?
Every single meeting we held is an opportunity for the members to learn something.

To be more extreme, and pardon me my extreminism, most of the good public speakers I've seen around ukm, are those who are active in clubs or society.
Now they are giving us so much trouble and want us to meet outside.

So if you are UKM staff or better if TNC is reading this.
Make sure when we apply for bus services, we get the service.
Or else i'll fight for my right until justice is served.
Demonstration might be needed, since now it's something hot in our country.
But who so free go demonstrate in uni?
Ok will write letter first.
Freedom of Religion man!

Are you with me?

Aye, Hoc Mun :) It's unfortunate that the powers that be can just flex their muscles and practice such intolerance to faith-related matters. To add insult to injury, the signal is coming from THE National University of Malaysia. However, I'd suggest that before you lead a crusade, go consult those who are in the legal profession. The powers that be will just manipulate the situation to their benefit with the controversial AUKU. I believe the PERKEB Alumni would be more than willing to offer some valuable advice. Sigh...deja vu...ten years ago, the HEP (or was it PMUKM) invited a self-proclaimed former Catholic priest-turned-ulama to speak about Christianity. He had a jolly good time ridiculing the faith - the Catholic Church in particular. Subsequently, the Catholic Church found out that there was no such 'former priest'.

thanks for the advice. :)
i wonder how would i sing "inilah varsiti kita". lol

Very true...now I think I will cringe when we sing the line "Paduan ilmu dan KEIMANAN" :p I think this should be more appropriate: "Padual ilmu dan PENINDASAN" LOL :D

haha. that should be it.
good thing is that ukm is not so high tech, people just don't go online and read stuff.
so most prolly no ukm staff will find out this conversation;.

Eh ya ya.
same feel.
they always say "u kena join aktiviti kolej untuk belajar softskill"
but actually their softskill is totally not enough to survive in the workin world also, high school students also can do what they do lah . Tak join aktiviti kolej tak de chance stay kolej pulak...haih

and if they say "softskill", can't i join fakulti aktiviti or uni aktiviti ke, same also wert...

they one hand say wana make us improve on softskill on another hand give us so much trouble to organize meeting.

irony. malaysian. irony.

I thought one of the first things we learnt in our school years and recite them all one day every week for 12 years (in my days anyway), was the Rukun Negara. Within, the first item mustered out after the declaration is: KEPERCAYAAN KEPADA TUHAN.

Now, does that mean when we reach the varsity, the Rukun Negara gets thrown out the window? Sigh. Weird.

h0cmun said...

that is not true, however, somehow, it has been distorted.
Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan still on, but you cannot practice your kepercayaan in campus.
ironically the official religion still can practice that in campus, because they have a masjid in campus.

hi, i left PERKEB about 7 years ago, and during my 4 years there, HEP has never given up causing trouble for PERKEB.

But they don't seem to understand that God has not given up on PERKEB either, and has never failed in making a way for PERKEBians to meet.

The Lord Jesus did say "in this world, there shall be trouble", and James tells us to "consider it pure joy when ye face diverse trials". So come what may, it has not come without passing God's eye.

Thinking out of the box a little, have we ever wondered if GOD wanted Perkeb meetings to be held outside? ;)

God bless

Thanks guna for the encouragement.
Many things are happening now and make us re-look into many things that we're doing.
God is in charge and he will be.
God bless.

wow i didnt know UKM is this menyusahakan for students..so tidak ngam, coz it this is a 'universiti terunggul' then the student body should be the stongest coz we are the product of ukm.if the student bcome sot-sot products then the uni will malu right. practising softskils?haa try to tink tht 'us' online-ing oredi hv it la coz we are using wat the uni not teaching us which is using the internet (forexample).maybe that sofskill thing is more for those who mmg zero in softskills;ei: certain ppl from certain communities who have certain limited resources who are from certain courses who are from certain asal usul.anyway, yup i agree = irony.

we should continue to stand firm. PERKEB is 33 years old.how ever did it last?never give up.and believe.
